Golfe do Montado

Golfe do Montado

Description

Montado opened in 1992, designed by Portuguese architect Duarte Sottomayor, then fully redesigned in 2005 by Jorge Santana da Silva before reopening the following year. It sits among muscatel vineyards more than a century old, part of the historic Palmela and Setúbal wine country, about an hour south of Lisbon.
The course is flat and easy to walk, laid out beneath cork oak, olive, chestnut and pine, with creeks and small lakes threading through play. The par-4 13th is the course's quiet showpiece, offering a clear view of Palmela Castle and a genuine chance at a birdie. The round closes with its best-known hole, a par-3 18th played to a green set on its own island. Recent visitors report the course in the best condition they can remember.
Facilities include a driving range, resident golf professionals, and a clubhouse restaurant and snack bar. Montado offers a quieter, better-value alternative to the busier Algarve courses. Book it through Tee Times for an unhurried round without the queues.
