Quinta da Marinha was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr and opened in 1984, laid out across 110 hectares of pine estate on the Estoril coast near Cascais, about 25 kilometres from Lisbon. The course predates the resort hotel that later grew up around it by a decade and a half, and it still carries the hallmarks of a genuine Trent Jones design.
Elevated tees and greens, generous bunkering, and narrow driving corridors reward accuracy over power throughout. The par-four 3rd, sloping down to the sea, was for years the picture used to promote golf in Portugal abroad. The 4th plays over a ravine to a demanding green, the 13th crosses a lake to a well-bunkered target, and the round closes at the 18th with two lakes guarding the way home. The course has hosted the Ladies Masters, the PGA Seniors Tour Championship, and a Challenge Tour event.
Facilities include a driving range, golf academy, resident professionals, and a clubhouse restaurant and snack bar. Book Quinta da Marinha through Tee Times, and pair it with neighbouring Oitavos Dunes for two very different rounds on the same stretch of coast.
